HIDA Design Charter

At Takayama of Hida, from the ancient times, there have been much activities in carpentry and crafts, which is generally described as works of "carpenters of Hida.
"With the "skills and spirit," which have been developed and nurtured by our ancestors, as the bases, we will aim at creation of Hida design which will be loved by the people the world over.
We believe that the importance placed on each other's existence and competition among individuals and corporations will lead to further development of local
communities and happiness of the people and we hereby establish the Hida Design Charter. (1998.8.1)

Article-1 Coexistence with Nature

With view toward coexistence with nature, Hida Design will pursue creation of arts and crafts which is sustainable into the future.

Article-2 Creation by "Men"

The Hida Design places importance on the "manual skills of men" and strive to create things with which the creator can feel joy and pride.

Article-3 Richness in Heart

The Hida Design will aim at creation of things that will provide the people of the world with
the richness in heart and peace of mind.

Article-4 Thriving on Tradition

The Hida Design will create things that will shine in our lives and continue to live while placing importance on traditional culture in our contemporary and future life.

Article-5 Permanence

The Hida Design will aim at design that can be used for a long time and continue to be created.
